Elafiti – a group of islands located west of Dubrovnik consisted of 13 islands from which the largest are Šipan, Koločep and Lopud. Island of Šipan covering an area of 16 sq km with its 42 ancient palaces and 34 churches was commonly known as countryside residency for the Dubrovnik nobility. The island was visited by many prominent persons, hosting Princess Caroline of Monaco with her husband Ernst August of Hanover, the Belgian King Albert II. During the tour of the island full of historical and culinary attractions, beaches and bays, you will certainly find space under the sun reserved just for you. Island of Koločep (Calamota) which, next to the 17 cultural monuments and rich vegetation, boasts with beautiful blue cave that can be entered only from the sea. There are also two settlements Gornje i Donje Čelo located in sandy bays. Visitors have the opportunity to learn about the traditional way of life in the Mediterranean along with the inevitable gourmet delicacies offered by the restaurants / taverns located on a beautiful location. Island of Lopud, which is known as the island of captains, flora and beautiful sandy beaches, is also abundant in churches and other sacral buildings, and during a visit to the Knežev Dvor from 1457., the Franciscan monastery from the 15th century. An absolute „must visit“ is the park Đorđić-Mayneri which with its rich collection of plants from around the world makes it a special landmark. On the southeast side of the island is what is considered by many, the most beautiful beach on the Adriatic called “Šunj” which is almost 1 km long and very shallow and therefore very suitable for children. In addition to the beautiful bays where you can privately enjoy, in the evening you can visit local restaurants that offer excellent quality food.
Smaller islands that make up the group of Elafiti Islands are Daksa, St. Andrew, Ruda, Mišnjak, Jakljan, Kosmeč, Golec, Crkvine, Tajan, Olipa where one can enjoy the clear sea and beaches, each of which have their story.
